Coyote (Canis Latras)Fossils indicate that mammals have been around for about 200 million years. During that time there have been many changes to the physical characteristics of mammals. Some things however have stayed the same: mammals are warm blooded, have fur, and provide milk for their young.

In the beginning, mammals were small, rodent-like creatures that were active at night and fed by
eating insects and stealing dinosaur eggs. As the dinosaurs disappeared around 65 million years ago, mammals filled their place. Since then, mammals have evolved and diversified into many different species.

In the Dishman Hills you will find a wide variety of mammals, ranging from small shrews and voles to enormous moose and predatory cougars.

Hey, I'm in Matt's block 1 and I'm hoping someone else has the deer mouse. If so let me know what you have on it and we can exchange information. Thanks a bunch.
