Pacific Tree Frog Sketch
Amphibians are vertebrates, as are reptiles, birds, and mammals, which means that they all have backbones. Amphibians are also cold-blooded, which means that their body temperature varies with their surroundings. Unlike warm-blooded animals (mammals and birds), amphibians do not need to eat frequently to maintain their body temperature, so their food intake increases or decreases with their temperature and activity level.

Amphibians do not have hair or feathers, and can breathe through their skin in addition to, or instead of, through their lungs. Amphibians are divided into three groups: frogs and toads; newts, salamanders, and sirens; and the little known worm-like caecilians.

You can find a thriving community of Pacific Tree Frogs and Long-Toed Salamanders at Dishman Hills, around the East and West Ponds and the Lost Ponds that are located in the southwest section of the Natural Area.

I really think we should try to keep the images on these main animal pages as student-drawn sketches, or at least pictures that we have taken at Dishman Hills. This wiki is supposed to be entirely student-created, and I honestly think the sketches look better on the pages, too.
